Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Specialist to join our team at Linamar Corporation. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to meet the needs of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchasing and Sourcing
    • Purchase general and specialized equipment, materials, or business services for use or for further processing.
    • Assess requirements and develop specifications for equipment, materials, and supplies to be purchased.
  • Contract Management
    • Invite tenders, consult with suppliers, and review quotations.
    • Define or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts, or recommend contract awards.
  • Supply Chain Management
    • Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact clients and suppliers to resolve problems.
    • Involve in business unit to resolve quality, commercial, or servicing issues with suppliers.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Conduct ongoing negotiations with suppliers' contracts to ensure servicing incentives are identified.
    • Participate with plants to identify strategic suppliers and purchasing initiatives.
  • Analysis and Reporting
    • Analyze monthly sales for current and past years to identify seasonal variations in sales.
    • Calculate year-to-date sales, average inventory levels, inventory turnover rates, and order fill rates to diagnose purchasing and distribution problems.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, agreements, and terms with new suppliers and existing suppliers.
    • Judge the quality of products and evaluate the quality of service provided by suppliers.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-Secondary education in Business, Materials Management, or related field experience.
    • PMAC certification or a minimum of two years equivalent in purchasing and/or production planning/inventory control background.
    • Minimum three years previous experience in procurement functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Possess the ability to read and understand engineering drawings with the ability to communicate technical information to suppliers and engineers.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in teams with co-workers to ensure effective forecasting, product distribution, and marketing.
