Job Summary:

The Alumni Communications Officer will play a key role in promoting and communicating alumni and donor messages, as well as providing direct marketing services for alumni and donor engagement. This position will work closely with the Associate Director, Alumni Communications, and staff within the Division of Advancement to develop and implement effective communication strategies that foster a positive environment for alumni and donor relations within the University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, produce, and disseminate communications materials for the Division of Advancement, including publications, articles, and multimedia communications pieces.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage the University's growing community of alumni and donors.
  • Collaborate with staff within the Division of Advancement to provide direct marketing services for alumni and donor engagement.
  • Provide writing, editing, and proofreading services for a variety of communications and marketing pieces.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with alumni and donors to promote engagement and support for the University.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or Digital Communications.
  • Knowledge of fundraising professional standards and ethics is an asset.
  • Related work experience in a non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and proofreading at an advanced level in the English language.
  • Excellent research and interview skills.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume and daily deadlines.
  • Ability to handle diverse communications assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to develop compelling communication pieces for a wide variety of audiences.

  • Advanced desktop publishing (QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Advanced photo editing (Adobe Photoshop).
  • Advanced web design (HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Wordpress).
  • Advanced word processing (MS Word).
  • Advanced presentation software (MS PowerPoint, Prezi).
  • Intermediate Google Analytics.
  • Intermediate spreadsheets (MS Excel).
  • Intermediate project management software (MS Project).
