Job Description

The Nurse Clinician works with the supervisor for Street Health and Sexual Health Programs. They integrate experience, advanced level skills and knowledge in sexually transmitted infections and blood born pathogens, contraception using theory, and principles of adult learning and harm reduction.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide direct client service as well as training/orientation of new staff in several areas including: client needs assessment, diagnosis/treatment of STI's and provision of contraceptives.
  • Responsible for updating work standards and policies to align with best practice and provincial guidelines.
  • Clinical coordination of outreach and fixed site service, notification and contact tracing; client and staff education/orientation; resource development; and participation in research for the target population.
  • Collaborate with Managers, Supervisors, Public Health Nurses, Physicians and community stakeholders.

**Requirements:**

  • Five (5) years nursing experience in the specific clinical area.
  • Experience in quality improvement initiatives.

**Education:**

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate (TDG).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).

**Other Education and Training:**

  • Nursing diploma is acceptable.
  • Master of Nursing is acceptable.
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS).
  • CNA certificate in clinical practice area is an asset.
