Job Title: Nurse Clinician

Health Careers in Sask is seeking a skilled Nurse Clinician to join our team in Saskatoon. As a key member of our HIV and Hepatitis Treatment Program, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Job Summary:

The Nurse Clinician will be responsible for monitoring and assessing patients through chart review, history, physical assessments, and lab data. You will triage needs and care, identify and order appropriate diagnostic tests in consultation with physicians and other team members. Your expertise will also include administering vaccines, Mantoux tests, obtaining blood, and changing/dressing wounds, as well as initiating treatments and adjusting dosages as ordered by physicians or in accordance with standard treatment protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assess patients through chart review, history, physical assessments, and lab data
  • Triage needs and care, identify and order appropriate diagnostic tests in consultation with physicians and other team members
  • Administer vaccines, Mantoux tests, obtain blood, and change/dress wounds
  • Initiate treatments and adjust dosages as ordered by physicians or in accordance with standard treatment protocols
  • Provide crisis intervention, follow-up, and referral through telephone and one-on-one contact in various settings
  • Support skill building in prevention and self-management, including harm reduction and needle exchange
  • Liaise with team members in hospital departments and community agencies to ensure continuity and coordination of care
  • Develop and deliver formal education programs on HIV and Hepatitis prevention, testing, care, and treatment
Requirements:
  • 5 years direct nursing experience with HIV
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Registered/eligible for registration with the CRNS as an RN (NP) or RN (GNP)
