Job Description

Job Title: Elementary Education Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Education Professional to join our team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As a Primary and Kindergarten Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate educational program for students in grades 1-3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a play-based educational program consistent with the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Curriculum
  • Develop an understanding of the Primary Program: A Framework for Teaching and the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Understand the developmental levels of 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-old children
  • Work positively towards the fulfillment of the School and District goals
  • Participate in the implementation of the school-level Collaborative Model of Support
  • Develop the School District Attributes for the 21st Century in all students
  • Use technology for planning, attendance monitoring, communication, classroom instruction, and reporting purposes
  • Offer family-centered transition practices

Requirements:

  • British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Experience at the Kindergarten and/or Primary levels
  • Additional professional experience and/or post-secondary courses in early childhood education, early learning, and early literacy
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative/team environment to implement BC's Education Plan and the Redesigned Curriculum
  • Experience in providing inclusive learning opportunities that reflect the unique needs and interests of students
  • Training/experience in the use of Quality Assessment practices
  • Indigenous ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal)

Compensation: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
