Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Education Professional to join our team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As a Primary and Kindergarten Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate educational program for students in grades 1-3.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a play-based educational program consistent with the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Curriculum
  • Understand and implement the Primary Program: A Framework for Teaching and the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Design and implement a program that meets the developmental needs of 4, 5, 6, and 7-year-old children
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement the school level Collaborative Model of Support and develop the School District Attributes for the 21st Century
  • Use technology for planning, attendance monitoring, communication, classroom instruction, and reporting purposes
  • Offer family-centered transition practices
Requirements
  • British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum of two years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Experience at the Kindergarten and/or Primary levels
  • Additional professional experience and/or post-secondary courses in early childhood education, early learning, and early literacy
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative/team environment to implement BC's Education Plan and the Redesigned Curriculum
  • Experience in providing inclusive learning opportunities that reflect the unique needs and interests of students
  • Training/experience in the use of Quality Assessment practices (e.g., differentiated instruction, criterion-referenced grading, Assessment For, As, and Of Learning)
  • Indigenous ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal)
Compensation

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
