Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill, and critical decision-making in the provision of care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Ensure practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the University Health Network policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession.
  • Perform reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care.
  • Perform cross-functional and other responsibilities as assigned and/or requested.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required.
  • Member of Perioperative Nurse Association an asset.
  • Flexible and able to work effectively and efficiently within an interdisciplinary patient care team.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • BScN degree or equivalent.
  • Completion of an Operating Room course preferred; would consider sponsoring a qualified applicant through the Operating Room course Certificate Program.
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
