Job Description

Eaton is currently seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is located at our Mississauga, ON location, and we offer competitive employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Optimize manufacturing processes for the Canadian Satellite plants using technical knowledge and lean manufacturing techniques to achieve annual manufacturing goals, while reducing costs.
  2. Implement product design changes, update processes, develop reports and/or software tools, and conduct training.
  3. Utilize Eaton's software applications, computer-aided design tools, data analytical tools such as SQL and Power BI, and other applications as necessary.

Responsibilities related to People Management and/or Coordination:

  1. Instruct and train manufacturing personnel on new or revised manufacturing methods and equipment.
  2. Aid in the resolution of daily production technical challenges.

Responsibilities related to Process Management and/or Development:

  1. Deliver aggressive annual cost savings, while enhancing safety and product quality, through the creation, optimization, and standardization of components, processes, and modules/sub-assemblies.
  2. Determine the best utilization of equipment, facilities, material flow, and personnel.
  3. Contribute to the development and maintenance of front-end automation tools to maximize Order Engineering efficiency and error-proofing.

Responsibilities related to Project Management:

  1. Maintain the production line for assigned products, including updating standard bills of material, drawings, and models, and issuing Engineering Change Notifications and Product Directives as required.
  2. Support continuous improvement efforts through the creation and maintenance of Process Maps, Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Control Plans, and Workstation Safety Risk Assessments for assigned product lines.
  3. Compile complete cost analyses for projects based on hourly rates, burden, and material costs, cost of new machine tools, and handling of equipment to systematically eliminate waste and cost while leveraging Lean tools.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  2. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
  3. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within an 80-km radius of the specified job location(s) will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience required in manufacturing engineering or process improvement.
  3. Experience using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code, and applicable CSA and UL Standards.
  4. Experience of working in design-for-manufacturing or an Engineered-to-Order environment.
  5. Experience with Lean and Six Sigma Tools, Six Sigma Green or Black belt.
  6. Experience using Auto Desk Inventor and Auto CAD.
  7. BASIC understanding of Programming concepts.
  8. Working towards Professional Engineer Certification (P.Eng.) or Engineer in Training (EIT).

  4. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  5. Strong technical aptitude of electrical distribution and control systems.
  6. Effective time management, prioritization, and project management skills.
