About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for fostering a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and the broader community in the school's educational work to ensure the school is culturally responsive.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain education practices that ensure a comprehensive educational program for all students in this remote community.
- Manage and maintain systems and structures to foster academic development and improve students' social and emotional development.
- Engage a diverse school community in the school's educational programs.
- Build networks with other agencies, including involvement in the West Kimberley Network, and services in the community to benefit school programs.
- Develop and implement policies to support the inclusive engagement and full participation of students with disabilities.
About Looma Remote Community School
The school is part of the Kimberley Schools Project, which involves the four pillars of Targeted Teaching, Attendance, Community Engagement, and Early Years. The school places significant focus on ensuring the voice of Aboriginal parents is reflected in the actions, strategic directions of the parents and community members through a school community partnership.
Requirements
- Understanding of the educational and social challenges of a remote setting and ability to work in a culturally responsive manner.
- Ability to continue with the Aboriginal workforce planning, which provides career and employment pathways for senior students and Looma community members.
