Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Planner at the City of West Kelowna. As a Planner, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our city by developing and implementing land use policies and plans that balance economic growth with environmental sustainability and community well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement land use policies and plans that align with the city's vision and goals
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform land use decisions and policy development
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including developers, community groups, and other city departments, to ensure that land use policies and plans are effective and meet the needs of the community
  • Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and other documents to support land use decisions and policy development
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in land use legislation, regulations, and best practices
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, geography, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Eligible for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the Canadian Institute of Planners
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
