At Interior Health, we are dedicated to enhancing patient safety through effective hand hygiene practices. We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative individual to join our Infection Prevention and Control team as a Hand Hygiene Audit Student.

About the Role

This four-month term position offers an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in monitoring healthcare workers' hand hygiene practices and providing feedback to staff. As a Hand Hygiene Audit Student, you will work closely with Infection Control Practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate education strategies that promote best practices in hand hygiene.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough hand hygiene audit observations using electronic data collection tools
  • Provide education to staff on hand hygiene practices when knowledge level allows
  • Engage staff in the hand hygiene process through questions, discussions, and interactive demonstrations
  • Identify staff learning needs (knowledge gaps) and assess barriers to effective hand hygiene practice
  • Assist in hand hygiene promotional activities and other Infection Prevention and Control initiatives or projects
What We Offer

We provide a competitive salary of $42,492 - $55,639 per year, depending on qualifications and experience, plus an attractive remuneration package. You will also have access to ongoing training and education opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements
  • Current undergraduate student in a program with completion of at least one year of university education
  • Valid class 5 B.C. driver's license to drive Interior Health vehicles across a wide area within the health authority
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office and database applications
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently
