Job Summary
Island Health is seeking a part-time Family Physician to provide medical services to a rural community. The successful candidate will work in a clinic setting, supported by medical office assistants, and will be responsible for providing 20-minute appointments to patients. The Family Physician will also be on-call to provide emergency services as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary care services to patients in a rural community
- Work in a clinic setting with support from medical office assistants
- Be on-call to provide emergency services as needed
- Participate in the MOCAP Program for evening and overnight on-call services
Work Environment
The Family Physician will work in a modern office with a Wolf EMR system and an emergency treatment room. The clinic has two exam rooms, two offices, and two medical office assistants to support the physician.
Local Resources
- A phlebotomist is available on Thursdays for 4 hours
- A mental health and addictions counselor is available up to 2 days a week
- Two registered massage therapists and one physiotherapist rent rooms casually
- A dentist visits the clinic once a week
Emergency Framework
- Ambulance services are available
- Volunteer first responders are available
- Emergency treatment room is available
- Patients requiring urgent transfer are taken by water taxi or helicopter
Benefits
- May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA)
- Recruitment incentive: up to a maximum of $15,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
- Relocation incentive: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Flat fee: $16,111
- Fee premium: 10.99%
- CME: $/2 years or less, $2,/annum year 3-4 and $4,/annum after 4 years in the community
- Rural GP Locum Program: Min daily rate - $; Maximum locum days for host physician: 38
