As an Automotive Refinishing Technician, you will be responsible for estimating repair costs, inspecting repaired vehicles, and planning repair work to be performed. You will also be responsible for professionalism in customer service, test driving vehicles for proper handling, and cleaning and maintaining the work space.
In addition, you will instruct apprentices, replace front end components, body components, doors and frame, and underbody components. You will also file, grind, and sand body surfaces to be repaired, mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting, and hammer out dents, buckles, and defects using blocks and hammers.
You will also remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills and bolt or weld replacement parts into place, apply primers and repaint surfaces, repair or replace interior components, and repair or replace damaged windows, windshields, and sunroofs.
You will also mix paint, blend, and match colors, operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents, and seams.
