Job Title: DataStage Developer - Big Data

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced DataStage Developer to join our team at Nexus Systems Group Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing ETL solutions using DataStage.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop efficient ETL processes using DataStage Manager, Designer, Administrator, and Director.
  2. Develop strategies for Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) mechanisms.
  3. Analyze data generated by business processes and define data elements, creating indexes and aggregate tables for data warehouse design and development.
  4. Study data dependencies using metadata stored in the repository and prepare batches for existing sessions to facilitate scheduling of multiple sessions.
  5. Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with our risk culture and relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
  6. Create an environment for effective and efficient operations of respective areas while ensuring adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. 10+ years of experience in development with at least 5+ years of deep experience creating and supporting ETL integrations (batch and real-time).
  2. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Parallel jobs like Join, Merge, Lookup, remove duplicates, Filter, Dataset, Lookup file set, Complex flat file, Modify, Aggregator, XM.
  3. 3+ years of hands-on experience with DataStage Manager, Designer, Administrator, and Director.
  4. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Big Data concepts and platforms, such as Hadoop/Hive/Beeline/EDL.
  5. Expertise in UNIX shell scripts using K-shell for automation of processes and scheduling DataStage jobs.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  1. Data Warehousing skills and experience in dimensional modeling.
  2. Experience in Data Modeling as well as reverse engineering using tools like Erwin and MS Visio.
  3. Experience in integration of various data sources (DB2-UDB, PL/SQL, Hadoop data) into data staging area.
  4. Experience in performance tuning and enhancement.

Soft Skills:

  1. Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders.
  2. Strong decision making, forward thinking, and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences.
  3. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently with minimal direction.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
