Job Title: Senior Transformer Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Transformer Design Engineer to join our team at HITACHI ENERGY CANADA INC. in Stoney Creek, ON. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for transformers, including analysis, design, development, testing, installation, and service.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for transformers, including industrial transformers, and legacy technologies (ABB/GE/Westinghouse or ASEA)
  • Perform engineering design studies (thermal, dielectric) on existing transformers and provide technical support for transformer field service
  • Plan and coordinate engineering analyses and tests, and prepare related reports and summaries, for review
  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure timely and effective completion of projects
  • Provide support to transformer repair factory and participate in on-site transformer inspections

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering
  • P. Eng. Designation is a plus
  • 5+ years of Transformer design experience
  • Special transformers (furnace, rectifier, shell) electrical design experience would be a plus
  • Hitachi Energy electrical design tools and standards experience or equivalent
  • Transformer electrical design calculations
  • Proficient with computer and software-MS Office
  • Demonstrated self-starter with effective planning, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to formulate solutions to technical problems
