About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer R&D Specialist to join our team at GMR Safety. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing prototypes, as well as sharing your knowledge with internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish engineering solutions;
  • Design experiments and provide conclusions on product or process performance;
  • Coordinate and execute tests, including developing experimentation instructions;
  • Work with sales teams to coordinate client testing of experimental products and assist with on-site testing;
  • Conduct research and development activities necessary for projects;
  • Develop testing methods for evaluating new products according to applicable standards;
  • Write detailed technical reports outlining procedures, results, and observations from laboratory tests and experiments;
  • Identify and support opportunities and projects related to material cost reduction for commercial products;
  • Provide work directives, training, and mentorship to technicians;
  • Create D models using CAD tools;
  • Perform mechanical, thermal, electrical, vibration, and multiphysics numerical analyses to optimize mechanical designs;
  • Plan, conduct, and interpret test and experiment results;
  • Collect and analyze data to develop theoretical models;
  • Produce engineering documents (specifications, reports, plans, calculations, product launch reports, etc.);
  • Take on project lead roles for assigned projects.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Innovative, analytical, and creative mindset;
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design in a similar role;
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ);
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD software D of SolidWorks;
  • Advanced knowledge of metal fabrication processes;
  • Understanding of current cutting tool technology;
  • Impeccable attention to detail;
  • Strong project management and time management skills;
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and resolve problems efficiently;
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work in a team and under pressure;
  • Strong analytical thinking with good problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of electronics techniques (an asset);
  • Good team spirit;
  • Meticulous and organized;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) in both spoken and written forms.
