The Canada Games Centre is a dynamic community and recreation hub in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a Summer Camp Assistant, you will be part of a vibrant team that fosters physical literacy, fitness, and wellness while supporting high-performance sport and athlete development.
The camp program is designed for children aged 5 to 12, offering a diverse range of activities such as swimming, sports, crafts, and outdoor play. You will assist with daily operations, including camper sign-in/out, attendance tracking, and scheduling duties. Your responsibilities will also include helping plan and implement summer camp programs, ensuring all campers' needs are met.
To excel in this role, you must possess strong organizational skills, a background in recreation and sport, and experience working with children. You will work closely with the Recreation Coordinator and other staff members to deliver a high-quality program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily sign-in/out process
- Help create and develop weekly camp programming schedules
- Plan and develop crafts and activities matching weekly themes
- Conduct weekly swim tests
- Organize camp rosters and information binders
- Deliver summer camp programs
- Manage a staff team of up to 45 members
- Provide support to Inclusion and Behaviour Counsellors
