Job Summary:

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled MEP Engineer to join our team as a Design Coordination Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating design packages, communicating with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track design packages for submission to clients and collaborate with document controllers for timely delivery
  • Communicate delays in design schedules proactively and find solutions to mitigate; track all delays and associated claims with design consultants
  • Coordinate with clients' document control teams on design package submission or comments receipt delays
  • Coordinate design review comments between construction and performance teams (CRM process) to designers and ensure closeout of comments in design packages
  • Coordinate constructability and gate reviews and quantity variance in design from bid estimates to relevant designers
  • Collect information on a weekly and monthly basis for updating progress reports
  • Coordinate suppliers' information with design teams and ensure delivery to clients
  • Coordinate with procurement teams for procurement of subcontractors for design input requirements
  • Coordinate design quality aspects with teams and help prepare for design quality audits with QA/QC
  • Coordinate all Conformance Review Report (CRR) inputs with design leads
  • Collaborate with lessons learnt coordinators for learning moments gathered from past projects regarding optimizing design coordination internally within teams and externally
  • Enhance delivery process of all packages to clients
  • Respond effectively to designers' enquiries/requests in efforts to support design process
  • Assist design teams to proceed on time as planned
  • Develop optimized solutions and reduce scopes for cost minimization

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in reviewing and handling MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) designs
  • Minimum educational experience: Electrical engineering degree
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets
  • Computer literate with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Bilingual French/English required
  • Able to lead discussions with partners, clients, and suppliers and interact with senior discipline staff as overall delivery lead
  • Experience with managing vendor relationships, estimation, analyzing information, and reporting is essential
  • Demonstrated strong team work ethics and decision-making skills
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Prolonged sedentary positioning
  • Moderate physical activities
