Job Summary
The Water Treatment Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of water treatment systems and equipment. This involves carrying out inspections, testing, repairs, and maintenance for all facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete daily system logs and tests, reporting any abnormal conditions to the Building Services Manager.
- Stop and start systems as required for repairs, after a fault shutdown, or power failure.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, adjust, repair, replace, and calibrate water treatment system equipment or components.
- Inspect water treatment systems for leaks and verify system temperatures, pressures, levels, flows, and voltages.
- Complete assigned water tests and make adjustments to the system as needed.
- Add salt to the brine tank as required.
- Prepare and replace analyser solutions as needed.
- Complete system sanitation tasks as assigned.
- Clean the outside of tanks and equipment.
- Compile and maintain all information and documentation relevant to water treatment systems.
- Determine the impact of required work, communicate, coordinate, and supervise major repairs with other facilities staff and contractors to minimize service interruption.
- Work as part of a team to evaluate the effectiveness of systems and make continuous improvements.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the water treatment systems or equipment.
- Recommend and maintain an inventory of spare parts to minimize downtime on the system.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and established safety standards.
- Work safely and collaboratively as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

- Perform all other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 combined with a community college diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, good planning and organizational skills.
- Experience: Two years of previous experience in the operations/maintenance of various complex purified water treatment systems is preferred.
