Farm Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Supervisor to join our team at Sandhills Seed Potatoes Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our farm, ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality crops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement plans to prioritize tasks and ensure the smooth operation of the farm.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications and maintain quality control and production records.
  • Mix fertilizer and oversee the activities of clearing the fields, soil fertility programs, and farm safety and bio-security procedures.
  • Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed and maintain a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including bulk handling systems, harvesters, sprayers, and tractors.
  • Perform general farm duties and maintain a physically demanding work environment.
Requirements:
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in farm operations or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and maintain a physically demanding work schedule.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including bulk handling systems, harvesters, sprayers, and tractors.
  • Knowledge of farm safety and bio-security procedures and the ability to ensure compliance.
