Design and Operations of Overhead and Underground Distribution Systems

POWER Engineers seeks an Intermediate Distribution Designer/Engineer to join our Toronto team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complete and competent designs for various project challenges using engineering calculations.
  • Prepare and check design deliverables, including plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Compile design packages for construction and perform quality reviews of project deliverables.
  • Network with clients and maintain client relationships, with some travel required.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or Technology diploma in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a university accredited by Engineers Canada.
  • Five or more years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Exposure to utility standards, CSA, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques.
  • Ability to work in design teams and lead teams of Engineers, Designers, and Drafters.

Desired Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines.
  • Prior utility design experience or distribution line work, especially in the Ontario market.
  • Exposure to non-linear powerline design software such as PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, etc.
