JOB PURPOSE

The Clinical Nurse Leader serves in a pivotal role within the nursing domain, encompassing both hospital and community settings. This position is responsible for the development and facilitation of nursing policies and procedures, ensuring the implementation, assessment, and enhancement of nursing practice standards. The role also includes providing advanced practice analysis and consultation, delivering educational sessions, and spearheading nursing quality improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration with the Nurses' Association of New Brunswick.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • At least 5 years of recent clinical experience.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to foster change.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-honed presentation abilities with experience in adult education.
  • Track record of leading projects and formulating/implementing new policies and standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties, including travel as necessary.
  • Strong work ethic and consistent attendance record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employing an evidence-informed approach, facilitate the nursing policy and procedure process within the designated area, collaborating with other departments to enhance regional consistency.
  • Lead the drafting of general nursing practice regional policies and procedures as assigned, acting as a resource for others in this process.
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluation of nursing standards within the area.
  • Mediate between differing viewpoints to align practices with established standards.
  • Communicate the significance of change management strategies to promote the successful adoption of nursing standards and policies.
  • Serve as a standing member of the Nursing Standards and Policy Committee, and participate in or lead committees as authorized.
  • Develop, deliver, and assess educational programs for nursing staff related to standards and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a consultant for nursing units lacking direct nursing supervision and provide practice resources for nursing staff and leaders.
  • Support managers in creating action plans to address significant clinical practice challenges, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Identify improvement opportunities by monitoring nursing care trends and developing programs, processes, policies, or standards to bridge quality gaps.

Reporting Relationship:

This position reports to the Regional Director of Nursing Practice.
