Job Responsibilities
  • Develop high-voltage substation projects from conceptual design through construction.
  • Prepare technical reports that present project information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements.
  • Create electrical physical design packages, including One-line, Site Plan, Electrical Plan & Sections, Grounding Plan & Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control House Plan, Control House Grounding Plan & Details, Lighting Plan, Lightning Protection Plan, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Perform quality assurance and control of electrical engineering design packages.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables.
  • Offer engineering and technical support, and reviews to field crews during construction.
  • Contribute to proposal development and LOE (Level of Effort) analyses.
  • Develop project estimates.
  • Participate in winning strategies, successful project execution, and key pursuits.
  • Maintain and monitor the opportunity pipeline to optimize business development plans and employee utilization rates.
  • Establish local marketplace reputation through relationships, industry events, and social media sharing.
  • Model Stantec's values and help others align with our purpose of designing with community in mind.
  • Support, guide, and counsel on technical topics as a subject matter expert.
  • Advise, advocate, and be an ally for junior colleagues and EITs to help them reach their potential.

Requirements:

  • Civil, Structural, P&C, and Studies proficiency in substation engineering.
  • Able to visualize and evaluate equipment details, phase-to-ground, phase-to-phase clearances, and drawing relationships.
  • Familiarity with international and North American electrical codes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Understanding of Power Systems analysis and related software packages.
  • Experience with grounding analysis software such as WinIGS, and CDEGS.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Electrical, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of substation design and engineering experience within utilities, EPC and/or consulting organizations.

Compensation: The estimated salary for this role is between $120,000 and $160,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
