Job Summary

The Anesthesia Assistant - Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in the Operating Room, providing clinical and technical support to the anesthesia care team. This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer anesthetic gases and medications under the direct supervision of an anesthesiologist.
  • Perform activities such as conscious sedation and monitoring of patients under general anesthesia.
  • Assist with regional and neuraxial procedures, airway management, and insertion and management of intravenous and arterial lines.
  • Provide constant assessment and evaluative monitoring of the depth of anesthesia.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an Accredited Respiratory Therapy or Nursing Program.
  • Completion of the Michener Institute (TMI) Anesthesia Assistant Program or equivalent.
  • Registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario or the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or recognized equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum two years current experience in the anesthesia assistant role in the Operating Room required.
  • Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant preferred.
  • Paediatric experience preferred.
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support program required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Ability to regularly work and travel between hospital sites as required.
