Department Manager

This role involves overseeing the team members within the department, ensuring a clean and well-stocked environment, and collaborating with the Corporate Purchaser to optimize purchasing decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Set an example for department staff by demonstrating excellent customer service, a strong work ethic, and dedication to the industry.
- Maintain department cleanliness, ensuring shelves are clean, well-stocked, and faced.
- Ensure optimal inventory levels by making informed purchasing decisions, analyzing sales data, and collaborating with other Wellness Managers and Corporate Purchasing.
- Maintain familiarity with vendor contact information, purchasing requirements, brands, and products, striking a balance between established products and new, innovative offerings.
- Request new items from Corporate Purchasing based on customer requests, trends, or personal experience, and use sales analysis to merchandise, feature, or delist products.
- Become familiar with products featured in Nature's Fare's bi-weekly flyer, the Good Life Magazine, or supplier-driven advertising methods.
- Ensure adequate stock and proper display of featured products.
- Collaborate with suppliers, Nature's Fare Head Office, and other stores in planning and organizing events.
- Monitor department sales and employ tactics like encouraging sales, creating engaging displays, and using in-store promotions.
- Ensure all department staff are trained using Nature's Fare Markets training material and according to the training schedule.
- Effectively demonstrate leadership skills through delegation and coaching.
- Uphold excellent communication skills and encourage open communication among department members.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing people.
- Experience in a retail setting is considered an asset.
- Experience in a related industry or position is also considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of vitamins and supplements is preferred, and a willingness to learn is essential.
- Passion for alternative medicine and holistic health is required.
- Education in a related field is an asset.
