About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team at Rackspace Technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing and scaling cloud-based systems, and a solid understanding of public cloud technologies, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves working in a remote environment, requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to solve complex problems independently and creatively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable and reliable cloud-based systems for stream and batch processing.
  • Work with technologies like Pub/Sub, Kafka, Kinesis, DataFlow, Flink, Hadoop, Pig, Hive, and Spark.
  • Implement automation and DevOps best practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure as code (IaC), and containerization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, following industry standards and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends, and apply this knowledge to improve our systems and processes.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on GCP.
  • Expertise in cloud-based messaging and stream processing systems, including Pub/Sub and DataFlow.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong programming skills in Java and Python.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Google Cloud Professional Engineer certification.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based machine learning and artificial intelligence platforms.
