Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Indigenous Language and International Languages Educator to join our team at the York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and coordinating a program that is optimal for language learning and reflects current teaching practices in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver a program that meets the diverse needs of students, including those with varying language proficiency levels and learning styles.
  • Develop and maintain an inclusive and equitable learning environment that promotes cultural awareness and understanding.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administrators to ensure student progress and well-being.
  • Supervise students as assigned and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies that meet the needs of all students.

Requirements:

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certification for credit courses.
  • Teaching Certificate from another province or country.
  • Language teaching certification from another school board.
  • TESL/TEFL/TOEFL/ESL or similar certifications.
  • ECE/EA qualifications and/or experiences.
  • Related degree or diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Ojibwe and Mohawk is an asset.
  • Some teaching experience, preferably in language teaching.
