Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for leading a team of researchers, providing technical and scientific guidance, and managing research programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management

    Lead a team of researchers by providing technical and scientific guidance, ensuring projects are implemented and completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

  • Research Program Management

    Manage and develop Biomass/Bioenergy R&D programs, supported by key external sponsors, and collaborate with the BBRG team to enhance research-funding opportunities.

  • Strategic Partnerships

    Foster strategic relationships with national and international laboratories, companies, and universities, and partner with the Biomass and Bioenergy Research Group PIs to create and implement a strategic vision for the Biomass/Bioenergy portfolio.

  • Research and Development

    Utilize leadership, strategic, technical, financial, and operational expertise to ensure projects are implemented and completed efficiently, on time, and within budget, while identifying opportunities for national and international collaborations.

  • Mentorship and Training

    Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students in research planning and experimental work.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in applied science or engineering

  • Minimum 3 years research experience in biomass (woody and herbaceous) handling and preprocessing
