Nurse Practitioner

A highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse is required to provide exceptional care to newborn patients and families in our Level 2B NICU. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering family-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Competently utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care to high-risk infants.
- Involve and advocate for the family in all matters of care.
- Independently and effectively make decisions and adapt to changing situations.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse with Alberta Health Services, you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills.
- Current NRP certification.
- Good communication skills and ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required.
- Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.
- Ability to work shift work.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent Level 2 NICU experience.
