Job Description

The Director of Capital Projects is a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing Lithion's capital projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong project management background, with experience in managing external suppliers and professional services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project execution plans, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technology development, and operations teams to execute and manage capital projects.
  • Establish and monitor capital project budgets, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Supervise a team of engineers and project managers involved in capital project execution.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, approving deliverables.
  • Integrate and manage project risks, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring execution aligns with the plan.
  • Escalate significant risks and issues to senior management.
  • Prepare and present project progress reports to stakeholders.
Short-Term Responsibilities
  • Develop the project execution plan for the hydrometallurgy plant project.
  • Contribute to the organizational structure and hiring plan for the project.
  • Support interactions with local municipalities, governments, and the community.
  • Coordinate internal resources, subcontractors, and suppliers for the project.
  • Control the project to manage changes related to the project scope, schedule, and associated costs.
  • Produce various reports to track the progress of project work and provide status updates to management.
  • Implement risk management and mitigation actions.
  • Facilitate smooth communication between internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience.
  • Experience in managing external suppliers and professional services.
  • Technical knowledge in chemical processes is an asset.
  • Training in project management or PMP certification is advantageous.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English and French.
  • Excellent writing abilities in both English and French.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Autonomy, proactivity, and good organizational skills.
  • Understanding the need to accomplish tasks independently before the team is fully developed.
  • Dynamic, committed, and creative personality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Practical knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
