Job Title: GIS Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Project Manager to join our team at the City of Richmond Hill. As a key member of our GIS & Data team, you will be responsible for leading multiple high-priority projects and programs within the realm of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Data Analytics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex GIS and data analytics projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring successful outcomes and benefits.
  • Collaborate with IT, business, and executive stakeholders to plan, manage, and implement technical solutions that meet the needs of various lines of business.
  • Provide project leadership to guide projects through all phases, ensuring effective cross-divisional teamwork, high standards of work quality, and organizational performance.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, and update project status on Microsoft Project for the Web.
  • Identify, evaluate, and document risks, issues, constraints, and dependencies, and implement effective change request processes.
  • Develop and finalize RFP documents for GIS and data analytics projects, and manage project team resourcing.
  • Provide ongoing communication to key stakeholders, including the Project Sponsor and Business Project Owner, and ensure timely and accurate reporting on project-related milestones and deliverables.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, GIS, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • PMP certification is required, PMI – ACP is preferred.
  • Certifications in ITIL, Power BI, GIS are considered assets.
  • 7 years of project management experience in implementing high-complexity business solutions, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in GIS & Data Analytics.
  • Experience with business requirements gathering, project planning, project implementation, and evaluation of projects, as well as LEAN, BABOK, or other process requirements or process improvement certifications.
  • Adaptable problem solver with solid leadership skills, ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and demonstrated project management expertise through planning and managing projects of increasing size and complexity.
