ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT MANAGER

School District #83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) invites applications from experienced professionals to fill the role of Accounting Department Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direction and support for accounting, payroll, and benefits functions and services, as well as budgeting process.

The Key Accountabilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, the Accounting Department Manager will coordinate district financial systems, monitor individual budgets, and maintain the integrity of the district's accounting systems. This role requires a strong understanding of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), computer information systems, and accounting practices.

Requirements

  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA), or possess a post-secondary degree in business/finance
  • CPA Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation (preferred)
  • Minimum five years' experience in managing unionized staff in a complex computerized accounting department
  • A strong background in data management, analytical skills, and leadership abilities
