About the Role:
This position requires operating the Point-of-Sale system, processing customer transactions, and restocking shelves with inventory across all store areas. The ideal candidate will follow opening and closing procedures, resolve customer issues, process returns efficiently, and maintain checkout operations according to policies and procedures. Additionally, they will ensure proper maintenance and housekeeping in the store and adhere to safety protocols at all times. On occasion, driving to Elk Point may be required to pick up products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage with member-owners and customers to provide outstanding Co-op experiences.
- Operate the Point-of-Sale system, processing customer transactions (training will be provided if needed).
- Stock shelves with inventory across all store areas, including grocery, dairy, meat, deli, and produce.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions.
- Process returns transactions efficiently.
- Maintain checkout operations by adhering to policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper maintenance and housekeeping in the store.
- Follow safety protocols at all times.
- Drive to Elk Point up to three times a week to pick up products.
- Work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotational basis.
- Demonstrate behaviors that align with and strengthen the Co-operative's vision, mission, values, and focus on safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should have a grade 12 or combination of relevant experience, preferably with previous retail experience. You must also be 18 years of age or older and able to regularly lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs, including repetitive tasks such as handling milk crates, restacking pallets of beverages, lifting boxes of bananas, etc. Strong computer and electronic device knowledge is essential, along with being action-oriented, customer-focused, and working well with other Team Members. Honesty, trustworthiness, results-orientation, and striving for excellence in work are highly valued qualities in this role.
