Plan Group is seeking an Electrical Design Manager to lead our Integrated Pursuits team in pursuing major construction projects across Canada.

To excel in this role, you will demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness while:

  • Managing design resources
  • Directing major decisions with consulting firms
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Evaluating risk and opportunities within the proposal
  • Overseeing a comprehensive and detailed estimate

This role requires strong communication skills, both oral and written, as well as presentation skills. You should be comfortable speaking in front of people and leading meetings and technical discussions to represent Plan Group effectively.

As an experienced Electrical Design Manager, you will work independently in a complex, fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects and clients. You will have excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to prioritize tasks.

You will lead Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with an electrical focus, read and understand issued statements of requirements, and develop competitive submissions. You will also communicate effectively with stakeholders, clients, and partners, and collaborate within an Integrated Multi-Discipline team to optimize efficiency and pricing.

Additional responsibilities include managing pursuit schedules, meeting deadlines, collaborating with design teams, and producing accurate quotations through material and labor take-off. You will also coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers, manage project tasks within time and budget constraints, and coordinate system installations with other design disciplines.

Qualifications for this role include a minimum of five years of engineering experience in the Electrical Construction industry, with an Electrical Engineering degree or related education/trade experience. Professional Engineer licensure in Ontario or BC, or Ingénieur licensure in Québec, is considered an asset. Experience in Design Build/P3 Healthcare projects specific to distribution, fire alarm, and lighting is required.

Preferred qualifications include experience with various Low Voltage systems, working knowledge of relevant building and electrical codes/standards, and ability to travel. A strong understanding of how design decisions impact cost is required, as well as strong decision-making ability for estimate development continuation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Accubid Pro and/or Enterprise are considered definite assets. Experience with other building types, Transit/Rail, and/or multi-discipline experience are also considered assets.
