Job Title: Tutor and Academic Coach

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Tutor and Academic Coach to join our team at NorQuest College. As a Tutor and Academic Coach, you will work one-on-one with learners to support their academic progress and success. You will apply learning theory, universal design principles, and foundational knowledge from the Alberta K-12 curriculum to create a safe, inclusive, and holistic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide content tutoring and academic skill development coaching to learners, both in-person and online
  • Individualize learning strategies using a strengths-based approach
  • Work with Learner Centre staff to co-manage the Learner Centre space and make appropriate referrals to other service areas
  • Contribute to the evolution and innovation of educational best practices that support academic resilience and a positive learner experience
  • Capture accurate usage metrics for the purposes of decision-making and reporting

Requirements:

  • A degree in Education (Bachelor's or Graduate level) and a Master's Degree (or working towards completion of a Master's degree) are required
  • Content expertise is required in one or more of the following: English (inclusive of foundational language learning and academic writing), Math and Sciences (with ability to apply foundational knowledge to post-secondary courses)
  • Applied knowledge of learning theory; expertise and experience with Universal Design or differentiated learning is required
  • 2+ years' directly related experience working with diverse learners in an educational setting
