About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

The successful candidate will utilize therapeutic intervention comprised of treatment, leisure education, and recreation participation to promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning of clients. You will work closely with the Manager of Day Hospital, Mental Health & Addictions, to develop and implement assessment and treatment plans for leisure opportunities and resources.

As an integral member of our team, you will be involved in quality improvement and evaluation activities to support continuous improvements in the provision of Therapeutic Recreation Services. You will also work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to ensure excellence in client care.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Therapist who possesses a Baccalaureate degree in Recreation or Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with NCTRC is also required.

Preferred qualifications include experience working with various populations/disability groups, knowledge of leisure/recreation assessments, and knowledge of leisure education and leisure counseling processes.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a salary of $42.01 per hour. Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
