About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for both unionized and non-unionized employees.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple unions and navigate complex financial systems. If you have a strong understanding of Canadian payroll laws and regulations, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail, we encourage you to apply.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Full cycle weekly payroll processing for all employees in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Audit payroll processing reports and time-cards for accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze and audit payroll data to identify discrepancies, ensure data integrity, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Process staff expense forms for reimbursement, ensuring they are properly completed with appropriate support.
  • Prepare monthly union reporting summaries, reconcile union dues, and file related union due remittances.
  • Prepare and file all payroll-related statutory filings (e.g. WCB/WSIB, EHT, Payroll source deductions).
  • Prepare and distribute employee tax forms and other government-related documents (T4, T2202, Record of Employment).
  • Generate ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports.
  • Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing letters of employment and/or addressing any discrepancies or concerns with pay.
  • Maintain detailed payroll records for audit purposes in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate and up-to-date pay and personnel records (new hires, terminations, changes in compensation).
  • Administer salary increases and bonuses as per company policies.
  • Work with the union, facilitating referrals and monitoring the apprenticeship program.
  • Perform additional financial duties as assigned.
