About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planning Expert to join our team at Parsons Corporation. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will play a crucial role in supporting transportation projects in Eastern Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct transportation designs, plans, and policy studies, including the evaluation of alternative planning and engineering solutions to integrated mobility challenges/opportunities;
- Contribute to the completion of larger transportation projects of varying complexity, including corridor studies, environmental assessments, master plans, area studies, etc.;
- Stay informed of emerging trends in transportation planning/engineering, including place-making, greening, accessibility, inclusion, and diversity;
- Manage or coordinate the work of other disciplines and firms and work within a team environment;
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and proposals;
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, stakeholders, and the community;
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and municipal staff as required;
- Prepare project planning schedules and budgets; and
- Contribute to business development activities, including networking and developing new client relationships.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in Urban/Regional Planning or Civil Engineering, is required, with master's degrees and other studies and certifications appreciated;
- Relevant work experience should be demonstrated, with the individual's role in their project successes articulated;
- Candidate should have a technical background in transportation planning, as well as a solid understanding of planning policy frameworks, best practice guidelines, planning and design techniques, evaluation methodologies, and performance measurement;
- Registration as a Professional Planner or Professional Engineer, or evidence of pursuit of registration, is required.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills;
- Proficiency in English (oral and written) is required. Bilingual English/French is not required but is considered a strong asset;
- Knowledge of transportation planning themes, practices, and guidelines; and
- Creative, problem solver, and team player.
