Mental Health Therapist

Job Summary:

Brightshores is seeking a highly skilled and experienced BSW/MHC-B to join our team as a Crisis Support Specialist. This is a part-time, temporary position that requires a strong understanding of mental health and addiction services, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement services meeting the needs of individuals with symptoms of mental health and addiction illness, utilizing Recovery Principles.
  • Function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with multiple partners.
  • Travel within the catchment area of Grey and Bruce County to provide crisis support services.
  • Work in the Crisis Support Program and may be deployed to support the Crisis Intervention Team, Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, or the Outpatient Mental Health Team as required.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Service field.
  • Both:
    • Minimum 5 years recent experience working in the community with individuals with significant mental health needs.
    • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-V.
    • Training and experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy.
    • Training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
    • Training and experience in Single Session Therapy.
    • Training and experience in Group therapy.
    • Training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
    • Knowledge and appreciation of Recovery Principles.
    • Knowledge of side effects of medication and strategies to cope with those side effects.
    • Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
    • Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
    • Able to work all shifts, 24/7 (days, nights, evenings and weekends).
    • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record.
    • Adherence to Brightshores 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others).
