Job Title: Automotive Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to join our team at Tom Smith Chevrolet Buick GMC Limited. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex issues with commercial transport trucks and automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
  • Discuss work with supervisor and review work orders
  • Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
  • Inspect motor in operation and road test motor vehicles
  • Test automotive systems and components, and adjust, repair, or replace parts and components as needed
  • Estimate parts and labor cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service and test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
  • Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements, and complete reports to record problems and work performed
  • Coach and instruct apprentices and provide customer service
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in the field, or equivalent experience
  • Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Steel-toed safety boots
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have hand-eye co-ordination, attention to detail, and be accurate, client-focused, dependable, flexible, reliable, and a team player
