Job Summary:

Brightshores is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a safe and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that address the patient's needs and promote optimal health outcomes.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment by promoting open communication, respect, and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility.
  • Ability and willingness to interpret basic arrhythmias.
  • Ability and willingness to work in Emergency as required.
  • Current certification in ACLS, BCLS, or willingness to obtain.
  • Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Assessment and interviewing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required.
  • Ability and willingness to flex time to meet unit, staff, and patient needs.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability and willingness to work all shifts.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Participation in staff meetings and unit-specific projects.
  • Communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.
  • Adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and LEAD Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others).
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Physical Assessment Course.
  • Palliative Care Experience.
  • CCU I or equivalent.
  • Two years recent medical surgical experience.
