Job Summary
The Registered Nurse at Brightshores is responsible for promoting health and assessing, providing care for, and treating health conditions through supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative, and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain or maintain optimal function.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the site Manager, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain or maintain optimal function.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility.
- Ability and willingness to interpret basic arrhythmias.
- Ability and willingness to work on Medical/Surgical Unit as required.
- Current certification in or willingness to obtain: ACLSPALSBCLSCTASDelegated medical acts.
- Leadership, problem solving, decision-making, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Assessment and interviewing skills.
- Ability and willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required.
- Ability and willingness to flex time to meet unit, staff and patient needs.
- Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Ability and willingness to work all shifts.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Participation in staff meetings and unit specific projects.
- Communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals.
- Recent satisfactory attendance and performance.
- Adherence to Brightshores 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment.
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Emergency Nursing Certificate.
- Physical Assessment Course.
- TNCC or equivalent.
- Recent Medical/Surgical/PACU/Day Surgery/Critical Care experience.
- Two years recent Emergency experience.
- NRP.
