About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineering Director to oversee the civil engineering activities of the HFR Project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all civil engineering aspects of the project.
  • Build and lead a team of civil engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure project goals are met within budget and schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Private Development Partner for the planning and design of civil structures for the railway project, including the geotechnical activities, bridges, roads, tunnels, stations, and other infrastructures.
  • Oversee the design development, review, and approval process for civil engineering components, including alignments, bridges, tunnels, and stations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to civil engineering and construction.
  • Develop and manage cost estimates for civil engineering activities, including cost estimation, tracking, and control measures.
  • Identify potential project-related risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure that civil engineering work meets industry standards and project requirements.
  • Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives within the civil engineering scope, incorporating best practices and new technologies.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for project objectives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of project controls professionals, providing guidance, support, and training to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • An additional qualification on project management is desirable.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and development of linear projects.
  • Proven experience in project leadership roles, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, transportation, or construction projects.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Being fluent in both Canadian official languages is desirable.
