We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Content Officer to join our team at North Island College. As a key member of our Community and Public Affairs team, you will be responsible for creating and implementing effective communication strategies to engage our internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement communication plans to support NIC's strategic initiatives and goals.
- Write and edit a variety of content, including news releases, social media posts, and website articles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create engaging employee communications and support the development of internal communications materials.
- Provide media relations support, including responding to media inquiries and preparing media kits.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students, alumni, employees, employers, and external partners.
- Support the development of a proactive media outreach strategy to enhance NIC's relationships with key media.
- Assist in organizing media events and communicating their newsworthiness to ensure coverage.
- Support the creation of collaborative, engaging employee communications to support the People Plan and Employee Engagement.
- Apply technical knowledge and ability to create content for use in a wide range of communications, including online social media, print, video, and other mediums.
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications or Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in writing, reporting, or communications, preferably in BC's post-secondary sector.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional writing skills with the ability to write and edit for multiple genres.
- Proven ability to speak to the hearts and minds of unique audiences through a variety of storytelling modes.
- Multi-media skills, including photography and video production, considered an asset.
- Clear understanding of and ability to apply CP Style guidelines.
- Strong command of communications fundamentals and storytelling principles.
