We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sessional Lecturer to join our team at Ontario Tech University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education and a proven track record of teaching excellence.
Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver a theoretically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description.
- Utilize a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments.
- Prepare, deliver, and grade all course material and assignments.
- Be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.
- A Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field is required.
- A Master's degree in education and/or mathematics is required.
- A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers is required.
- A PhD is an asset.
- Successful teaching experience within the grades 7 to 12 classroom context.
- Experience with the infusion of technologies in practice as purposeful teaching tools for, as, and of mathematics learning in the classroom.
- Demonstrated evidence-based or research-informed practice.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent organizational skills in order to effectively manage course delivery, the marking of assignments, and the ability to respond to student enquiries in a timely manner.
- Evidence of successful teaching, including via appropriately challenging inquiry- or problem-based lessons, at the pre-service and/or grades 7 to 12 levels.
Please note that this is a contract position and the successful candidate will be required to certify that they are currently legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.
