As a Senior Insurance Solutions Specialist at CNA Insurance, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's future. We are committed to creating a culture where employees feel valued and empowered to contribute their best work.

The position requires an individual with technical, sales, and analytical skills to provide innovative insurance solutions that help our program-based customers manage risk. You will collaborate with leadership to understand our strategies and appetites and use internal and external data to make informed risk decisions.

About This Role
  • You will review complex applications and financial requirements to determine the acceptability of our programs, ensuring alignment with our guidelines and standards.
  • You will identify areas for additional evidence of insurability and develop effective strategies to mitigate risks.
  • You will apply your knowledge of pricing components, rating methodologies, and predictive modeling tools to price risks accurately.
  • You will leverage all available underwriting tools, disciplines, and knowledge of strategies to ensure compliance with our underwriting guidelines.
  • You will demonstrate exceptional technical underwriting skills through thorough account reviews and file documentation.
  • You will analyze information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and underwriting requirements to drive results within your assigned territory.
  • You will communicate clearly and concisely with our partners, adhering to our letter of authority as assigned.
  • You will work collaboratively with our management and actuarial team to ensure prudent underwriting decisions.
Portfolio Management
  • You will manage the growth of our portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability, rate, retention, product mix, new business, and portfolio management goals.
  • You will prioritize time and resources to effectively manage and optimize producer performance.
  • You will demonstrate in-depth knowledge of our products and appetite while communicating our position effectively at the point of sale.
  • You will notify brokers of adverse underwriting decisions, rate changes, underwriting requirements, status, and declinations.
  • You may provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and functional areas.
  • You will work with specialists or management on risks exceeding your authority level or requiring special handling.
Sales & Distribution Management
  • You will build and maintain rigorous sales practices using our systems, including Salesforce.com and other sales tools and disciplines.
  • You will develop producer relationships to build pipeline, intelligence, and drive performance to meet and exceed results.
  • You will develop and implement distributor-specific plans, monitor performance, and adjust plans to ensure a substantial pipeline for future profitable growth.
  • You will drive effective relationship management and customer activities to build trust, facilitate negotiation, and secure commitment with our customers.

This role requires a university degree, combined with a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or progress towards completion, and 5 years of underwriting experience. You should have knowledge of underwriting processes, coverages, and tools to gather and evaluate information for renewals and new business.

We offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around $120,000 per year, based on industry standards and the location of the position.
