Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our Montreal team. As a member of the Arcadis Building Engineering Group, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for building projects while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects in the Montreal area, collaborating with other Arcadis offices throughout North America. Our ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in HVAC, plumbing & drainage, and/or fire protection systems, as well as hands-on experience with process engineering systems such as compressed air and fueling systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for building projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to support the implementation of process engineering systems.
  • Participate in site assessments and reviews to verify the performance and functionality of mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical support to project teams, contractors, and clients, actively participating in project planning and coordination efforts.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, reports, and stay updated with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and best practices.
  • Coordinate with the architectural team and other engineering disciplines, actively participating in project planning and budgeting.
  • Design and engineer building-related systems, including HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls, and building automation systems.
  • Support the design of industrial systems such as compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems, as well as service connections for machine installations.
  • Analyze heating and cooling loads using computerized methods.
  • Develop and write engineering study reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards during design development, coordinating with the energy analysis team for compliance with energy standards.
  • Take responsibility for the production of construction documents and construction administration for projects, reviewing and approving technical documentation.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks, fostering innovation, and driving continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Possess 7-10 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial and transit facilities, with a strong background in automotive facilities being an asset.
  • Hold a professional engineering license (P.Eng.) and have a comprehensive understanding of AutoCAD MEP, MicroStation, Revit, 3D software, and related tools.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills for effective internal and client interactions.
  • Exhibit the ability to work on multiple project assignments.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
  • Show proven experience in collaborating with clients, contractors, and other consultants.
  • Possess an excellent understanding of the Quebec Building Code, Quebec Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, and ASHRAE standards.
  • Familiarity with TSSA Fuel & Pressure vessel codes, and industrial ventilation standards, among other relevant industrial standards is an added asset.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for growth and development within our organization.
