Job Summary
The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a skilled Floor Technician to join our team at the Sackville Sports Stadium. As a key member of our Recreation Programming division, you will be responsible for ensuring the Fitness Center is member-ready in a welcoming, safe, clean, and organized environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients, ensuring a positive experience for all members.
- Stay up-to-date on all information regarding policies, procedures, and programs, including communication from other departments.
- Respond to member concerns, resolve issues within scope of responsibility, and channel concerns to the appropriate person.
- Assess client needs in respect to their health, abilities, fitness goals, and interests.
- Design safe training routines to meet client needs within the scope of practice.
- Assist, encourage, and educate clients on how to use fitness equipment safely and responsibly.
- Take opportunities to show commitment to achieving goals and objectives.
- Deliver Stadium Smart Sessions, ensuring completion of the program and follow-up with clients.
- Stay current on trends relevant to fitness and personal training.
- Aware of activity in the Fitness Center and ensure all policies and procedures are being followed by members.
- Work as a team member to ensure the Fitness Center is member-ready (welcoming, safe, clean, organized environment).
- Ensure the Fitness Center is tidy, clean, and safe, completing all cleaning duties, checking equipment operation, and reporting any damaged equipment or safety issues.
- Book Fitness Center consultation appointments and place reminder calls as needed.
- Dispense items from the First Aid Kit and report low inventory.
- Complete incident, medical, and emergency forms as required.
- Communicate and participate in special events and promotions.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent and current Personal Training Certification or Resistance Trainer Leader Certification, CPR C/AED.
- Previous experience as a Personal Trainer/Trainer.
- Two years of previous Customer Service experience.
Technical/Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong customer service skills with knowledge of communications, public relations, and customer service principles.
- Thorough knowledge of training techniques, motivation techniques, and safety practices.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, organize and manage time effectively, and work effectively in a team environment or independently.
- Attend annual conferences to receive continuing education credits for industry standards.
Security Clearance Requirements
Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
