Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Development Designer to join our team, based out of our head office in Scarborough with the option to work from home.

As a Development Designer, you will be responsible for understanding customer needs and translating them into innovative, manufacturable retail solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative retail solutions that meet customer needs and are cost-effective, sustainable, and manufacturable.
  • Present design development proposals to clients and work collaboratively to achieve next-step solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to establish innovative solutions that consider Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Retail principles.
  • Create planogram or valued-engineered presentations using technical illustrations and 3D modeling.
  • Identify cost-effective materials and processes.
  • Develop solutions that are both manufacturable and on-brand.
  • Produce Design Intent drawings for internal Development teams.
Requirements
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Technology or Design (or similar field).
  • Point of Purchase (POP) or retail design experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with CAD Software and SolidWorks.
  • Strong technical understanding of various manufacturing processes and ability to read and interpret documents such as design briefs, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
