About the Role:
This is a key position within our facilities management team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our building or campus. As a Building Maintenance Worker, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilities Maintenance: Inspect and document all equipment and systems in the facility, including the mechanical room, electrical room, valve room, kitchen, and laundry room.
- Record Keeping: Record information from meters and gauges at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
- Reporting and Communication: Notify managers about the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Hands-on Maintenance: Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Emergency Response: Responsible for scheduling and conducting facility fire drills, documenting the drill, observing, and submitting a report to management.
- Occupational Health and Safety: Attend monthly Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings as directed or required.
- Building Security and Safety: Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Special Projects: Assist with special projects seasonally, such as setting out and cleaning outdoor furniture, power washing, snow removal, and de-icing, etc.
- Ad-hoc Cleaning: Perform ad-hoc cleaning of building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, gathering and emptying trash, servicing, cleaning, and supplying restrooms.
- Vehicle Operation: Drive vehicles required to perform work.
- On-call Response: Maintenance workers will be on-call to respond to building emergencies as outlined by the Compass on-call policy.
About You:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Maintenance Worker or in a similar role.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Able to get along well with others, flexibility, and patience to work as a member of a team and demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to organize work and prioritize effectively with frequent interruptions.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical Ability: Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
